Christopher L. Heigele

Chris is a lifelong Kansas City resident. After working in a plaintiff’s litigation firm, gaining valuable trial and appellate experience, he shifted his focus more than 20 years ago to a defense-oriented practice. Chris defends governmental and law enforcement entities in civil rights law and other liability claims and corporations and manufacturers in product liability claims; he also practices in the areas of nursing home litigation; construction law; and general commercial liability insurance defense.

Chris has litigated numerous cases in the Missouri and Kansas state and federal courts. He has successfully argued and defended appeals in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit; the Supreme Courts of Missouri and Kansas; the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District; and the Kansas Court of Appeals.

Chris is actively involved in state and national legal organizations. He is currently a vice-chair of DRI’s Governmental Liability Committee and has served as chairman of the committee’s annual seminar. Chris also serves on the Board of Directors of the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers (MODL).
