PRACTICE AREAS:
Maurice is an experienced attorney, with a strong background in criminal law and public service. After beginning his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in West Plains, Missouri, Maurice went on to serve as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Jackson County, Missouri, and Wyandotte County, Kansas. Throughout his prosecutorial career, he handled a wide range of criminal cases, including complex felony matters such as murder, aggravated assault, and drug distribution. His extensive trial experience and keen understanding of litigation have equipped him with a comprehensive approach to legal defense.
In 2021, Maurice founded The Brewer Law Group, LLC, where he expanded his practice to include civil litigation and family law, focusing on providing clients with a well-rounded and strategic defense. His depth of experience in criminal and civil law makes him a valuable asset to his clients, particularly in complex litigation matters. He brings a keen eye for detail, aggressive advocacy, and an unwavering commitment to his clients’ rights and interests.
In addition to his legal practice, Maurice remains committed to public service. He was appointed by Governor Laura Kelly to the Kansas State Board of Indigents’ Defense Services (SBIDS) in February 2024 and to the Kansas Advisory Group on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (KAG) in November 2024. Maurice also serves on the boards of Mental Health America of the Heartland and MLCKC, a nonprofit that helps women and children in Kansas City’s urban core.
Maurice holds a Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Creighton University. He is licensed to practice in Kansas, Missouri, and the Western District of Missouri.
Maurice is also an active member of St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Chapter 14750. He is passionate about using his skills to protect individuals and businesses through civil defense, ensuring their rights are upheld in the legal system.
